The Turkish regime sacked four elected mayors belonging to the opposition People's Democratic Party as part of its repressive measures against its opponents.
The mayors of Kayabinar, Basmil and Kokakoy in Diyarbakir province and the mayor of Ergesh in eastern Van province have been sacked and administrative officials appointed, provincial governors said.
The two governors' offices noted that three dismissed mayors were detained on terrorism-related charges, while the Diyarbakir Prosecutor's Office announced that the mayor of Bismill had been released under judicial control.
For its part, said the People's Democratic Party said that six of its candidates who won the majority of votes in the mayors' elections held last March did not get their electoral certificates because they were removed from former public office by decree of the Turkish regime.
The authorities of the Turkish regime arrested in mid-this month four mayors belonging to the "People's Democratic Party".
The regime of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan continues to crack down on his opponents in various cities and regions of Turkey, where over the past years arrested thousands of people, civilians and military, as well as the dismissal or suspension of work against 150 thousand workers in the government, the army, the judiciary, education and other institutions.
