Turkey extends the cease-fire for northern Syria, initially scheduled for Tuesday, by another 150 hours or more than six days. The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after a meeting of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Sochi.
Following the Turkish invasion of Syria, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin in the Black Sea town of Sochi on Tuesday for crisis talks.
Turkey justified its invasion of Syria on 9 October by establishing a security zone about 30 kilometers wide and hundreds of kilometers long. Russia had shown understanding for the security interests of the country and at the same time demanded to respect the territorial integrity of Syria (read more about the background here).
