Engineer Mohammad Fayyad, Director of Damascus Rural Industry, pointed out that the industrial development wheel started to regain its turnover by increasing the number of establishments that came into production, which provide many job opportunities and secure the needs of the local market of various goods and materials in addition to exporting surplus production.
In a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin, Fayyad noted the measures taken by government agencies to support local production, facilitate the return of all industrialists to their facilities and simplify the restoration process in the affected areas.
Fayyad pointed out that the industrial and handicraft sector in the countryside of Damascus is witnessing a growing movement towards licensing and implementing new facilities.In the third quarter of this year, an industrial facility in the chemical sector has been licensed in accordance with the provisions of the investment decree No. 10, the value of its machinery and equipment is 150 million pounds and employ 12 workers.
He said: 113 industrial and craft establishments were licensed during the same period with a capital exceeding 3.7 billion pounds that provides about 900 jobs, including 99 industrial projects according to the law 21 with a capital of 3.6 billion pounds and 14 crafts projects according to decree number 47 with a capital of about 135 million pounds while the number of industrial establishments Which entered into production in the same period 35 projects with a capital of more than 10.7 billion pounds employing 300 workers distributed on various sectors, while the implementation of 4 craft projects with a capital of 7.5 million pounds employ 11 workers.
Fayyad explained that the directorate provides its services and completes the transactions of industrialists and craftsmen without delay through its competent departments. During the third quarter of this year, 1063 different transactions and 104 applications for industrial licenses were received and processed, including establishment, investment or expansion of a facility, 13 applications for crafts licenses, and 64 import licenses.
