Beirut-Sana

Beirut and most of Lebanon are in a state of complete paralysis after demonstrators and protesters protested the deteriorating living conditions for the seventh day in a row to close the roads from dawn today.

A number of protesters cut the Kfarhazir highway towards Chekka with earth mounds. In Hasbaya in the western Bekaa, the international road was cut from Marjayoun to Bekaa in front of two-way traffic at the market triangle of Khan.

Early in the morning, protesters set up another roadblock on the road, with dirt mounds and stones in the middle, while allowing citizens to cross on foot for humanitarian reasons.

The traffic control chamber reported that the Jiyeh and Saadiyat highways were cut in both directions, pointing out that a number of roads have been cut within the area of Jounieh and Metn north east of Beirut and in Akkar in north Lebanon in addition to Sidon south, Tripoli north and Zahle in the Bekaa.

In the meantime, the Lebanese army reopened the road at the entrance to the city of Tire, while many verbal clashes took place between pedestrians and protesters in a number of Lebanese areas, especially the coastal road leading to northern Lebanon.

On Thursday, the Lebanese began their sit-ins and protests over the deteriorating economic situation in the country and the Lebanese cabinet's decisions to impose new fees, including charges for communications.
