Participants in the workshop held by the Ministry of Administrative Development at Sahara Tourism Complex to discuss the draft disclosure of the financial disclosure law under the title of "Enhancing Integrity for Development" to determine the requirements of the application of the project and the role of public bodies in the implementation of the law in order to strengthen the fight against corruption.
The participants demanded that the heads of unions, organizations, bodies, parties and public customs officials, especially customs monitors, be included in the categories that should provide a statement of their financial receivables and that the executive instructions of the law should be issued as soon as it is adopted and not later, and benefit from the previous laws and legislations related to graft.
The participants pointed out the importance of the taxpayers to submit a new declaration when any adjustment to their financial receivables and that the deadline for submission of financial statements does not exceed ten days.
According to the draft law, any money obtained by the taxpayer due to the exploitation of his business, his influence, the circumstances of his job or his status, and all that any natural or legal person has obtained in agreement with any taxpayer due to the exploitation of his business, his influence, his position and status, as well as any increase in the financial liability of the taxpayer. Discussions during the sessions focused on several axes: “The draft law and the impact of its application in exposing the crime of graft and the provisions and mechanisms necessary to ensure the effectiveness of law enforcement and the fight against illicit enrichment and conflict of interest in the public sector and the role of law in enhancing citizens' confidence in institutions and the impact of the issuance of the law on enhancing integrity in Public action and graft risk assessment on the path of economic and social development. ”
Justice Minister Hisham al-Shaar stressed the importance of the draft law in combating administrative corruption in state institutions.
Minister of Administrative Development Salam Safaf stressed the importance of the project as a preventive measure to prevent corruption and graft, pointing out that it constitutes a qualitative leap for the administrative reform project and a guarantee to combat corruption in government institutions with this law should be integrated, comprehensive and free from gaps and shortcomings.
The workshop was attended by President of the Supreme Constitutional Court Jihad Al-Lahham, President of the Central Commission for Supervision and Inspection, Judge Amna Al-Shammat, a number of ministers' aides, members of the People's Assembly, judges and general directors of media institutions.
