Gustavo Gorriti, director of IDL-Reporters, considers that the dissolution of the Congress of Peru was the result of a long confrontation between President Martín Vizcarra and the majority of Fujimorist legislators, whose conflict had no possibility of settlement. In an interview with Carmen Aristegui, Gorriti believes that the situation stagnated after the Government advanced in the investigation of corruption cases in which the judicial system was involved and in which the Fujimori were affected. The investigation led to the mobilization of citizens and led Vizcarra to assume the presidency as his own. Within the framework of the Gabo Festival, held in Medellín, Colombia, Carmen Aristegui spoke with several prominent personalities of this event.
