Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed Russia's readiness to assist Africa in fighting terrorism and solving the problems and challenges faced by some countries of the continent.
"As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Russia intends to continue to take practical measures to promote peace and stability in Africa and to ensure regional security," Putin was quoted by Sputnik as saying at the Russia-Africa summit in Sochi.
Putin also expressed his country's readiness to continue training military and law enforcement personnel from African countries in Russian specialized educational institutions, noting that military personnel from 20 African countries are currently studying at the universities of the Russian Ministry of Defense and cooperation in the military and military technical fields.
The first Russian-African summit kicked off in Sochi, Russia, with the participation of a large number of leaders of African countries and representatives of regional and international organizations and institutions.
