The Syrian-Hungarian Joint Mission in Qal'at al-Hosn in Homs has completed a set of works scheduled for this fall season which started on the 5th of this month and lasted for more than fifteen days.

In a statement to SANA correspondent, Naima Muhtarim, the director of Qal'at al-Hosn, confirmed that the work carried out by the mission comes within the framework of the project of technical assistance to the castle, which was provided jointly by the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the University of Peter Pazmani in Hungary. In turn, Eng. Hazem Hanna, head of the engineering division at Qal'at al-Hosn, explained that the work accomplished by the mission included the historical, archaeological and architectural study of all parts of the castle and start drawing the outline of the castle and numbering all the spaces, towers and squares within a code to have a unified and accredited designation for all researchers and scholars.

According to Hanna, the mission also studied and documented dangerous construction cases and prepared restoration files, as well as following up the study of the water drainage system in the citadel and the preparation of a scheme and numbering.

Hanna said that in parallel with these works, the mission studied and documented the clay pots found in previous seasons and began to compile them and study and document the frescoes in the church tower where some parts of these drawings were discovered in different parts of the castle.
