The Iraqi capital Baghdad and a number of provinces today witnessed demonstrations demanding better economic and social conditions, some of which were marred by clashes, killing 26 people and injuring hundreds of demonstrators and security forces.
Fadel Hussein al-Azzawi, a member of the Human Rights Commission in Iraq, told SANA in Baghdad that the demonstrations included the Iraqi capital, Najaf, Karbala, Nasiriyah, Missan, Muthanna, Diwaniya, Wasit and Babil. Green offices that include the presidency
Al-Azzawi added that a number of demonstrators in the central and southern provinces attacked the headquarters of Iraqi parties and set fire to them.
To that seven Iraqi provinces are Dhi Qar, Basra, Missan, Babylon, Diwaniya, Wasit and Muthanna curfew after sabotage and violence by elements integrated between the demonstrators.
For his part, announced the spokesman for the Iraqi Interior Ministry Brigadier General Khalid al-Muhanna that law enforcement forces in the province of Basra came under attack using pomegranates, which led to the injury of an officer and seven associates.
In turn, the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council warned in a statement of the attack on public facilities, pointing out that any deliberate demolition, damage or damage to buildings, public property or government interests is a terrorist act.
In the meantime, the Presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives announced that its meeting for tomorrow will be special to discuss the demands of the demonstrators and the decisions of the Council of Ministers and the implementation of reform packages.
Some Iraqi cities and provinces have witnessed in recent weeks protests calling for improving public services, providing water and electricity, eliminating unemployment and fighting corruption in state departments.
