(CNN) - A man and a woman, both 38, were arrested this Friday in northern England on suspicion of traffic and homicide, according to Essex police. The 25-year-old truck driver from Northern Ireland, identified as Mo Robinson, remains in custody. In addition, the autopsies of some of the 39 people found dead in a refrigerated truck in Essex began. The police are also working to identify the victims.

Police have said that the eight women and 31 men inside the truck were Chinese. However, China challenges the claims and says that "it is not yet possible" to confirm the nationalities of the victims.

There is already an ongoing investigation for murder after 39 bodies were found in a container at the back of the truck, in an industrial park in Grays, Essex, on Wednesday.

This is what we know about the research:

The suspect: on Wednesday, the 25-year-old truck driver from Northern Ireland, Mo Robinson, was arrested on suspicion of murder. Police said Thursday that the suspect remained in custody and confirmed that three properties were registered in Armagh County.

Victims identified: the 39 people found dead inside the container are believed to be Chinese citizens, UK police said Thursday. The cause of the death of the eight women and 31 men has not yet been established, Essex police said in a statement.

Chinese officials are on their way: in a statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said Chinese embassy staff had traveled to the site "to verify the relevant information." The Chinese embassy in Belgium has also "demanded" a "thorough investigation" by the Belgian police, according to a statement. The embassy "attaches great importance to the report that bodies of 39 Chinese citizens were found in a truck in the United Kingdom," he wrote.

The origins of the container: the police believe that the container arrived from Belgium to England early Wednesday, while it is believed that the truck that transported it originated in Northern Ireland.
