Protests and demonstrations continued in the Iraqi capital Baghdad and a number of provinces to demand better economic conditions and the provision of services punctuated by violence.

The news agency INA quoted the Council of the High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq as saying that the protests during the past two days in Baghdad and other provinces resulted in the deaths of sixty-three people and two thousand five hundred and ninety-two wounded. Fifty others in the provinces of Muthanna, Dhi Qar, Missan, Diwaniyah, Babylon and Basra in southern Iraq.

Council member Ali al-Bayati said 83 government buildings and party offices were completely burned during the demonstrations.

The previous toll of the victims of the demonstrations witnessed in Baghdad and a number of provinces yesterday reported the killing of 26 people and wounding hundreds of demonstrators and security forces.

For its part, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said in a statement today that Minister Yassin Yasiri called on the demonstrators to maintain the peaceful protests.

In the meantime, the coalition of Sairon parliamentary transformation into an opposition bloc and began to implement a sit-in within the Iraqi Council of Representatives until the Iraqi government to respond to the demands of the protesters.

Earlier this month, some Iraqi cities and provinces witnessed protests calling for improving public services, providing water and electricity, eliminating unemployment and fighting corruption.
