The activities of the National Campaign for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer in Deir Ezzor focused on the educational aspect and the method of self-detection and prevention of the disease.
Dr. Siham Al-Khater, member of the Executive Office of the governorate of Deir Ezzor, told SANA that during the campaign, medical scouting and awareness services were provided with the participation of the local community and NGOs through the mobile vehicle sent from the Medical Services Department to the Martyr Ahmed Huwaidi Hospital, which includes a Mammograph and ECO. For a mammogram at the Assad Hospital where more than one hundred women are photographed and examined daily.
Al-Khater pointed out that Deir Ezzor governorate has allocated free buses to transport women who want to carry out examination and imaging from the rural areas of the governorate to both Huwaidi Hospital and Al-Assad Hospital.
In turn, the Director of Health, Dr. Bashar Al-Shuaibi said that the campaign, which lasts until the end of this month, aims to conduct a clinical examination for all women free of charge and to hold lectures and awareness seminars on the early detection and symptoms of the disease and its spread and prevention, pointing out that the demand for tests is increasing daily.
For his part, President of the Family Planning Association, Iyad Shehab, said that the participation of NGOs comes within the framework of supporting the campaign through the organization of seminars and lectures aimed at raising awareness and spreading health culture to introduce the importance of conducting self-examination and periodic.
A number of women noted the efforts exerted by the campaigners, whether in Al-Assad Hospital or Al-Huwaidi Hospital, or the associations and centers that held awareness and educational lectures, pointing out that the campaign enabled them to identify the nature of breast cancer and know them on the method of self-examination and the importance of periodic examination.
