Damascus countryside - Sana
The number of small and micro projects supported by a project program in the countryside of Damascus to date 3 thousand projects valued at 350 million pounds varied between agricultural projects in both plant and animal and handicraft and commercial.
Ahmed Kanaan, Director of Local Development in Rural Damascus, told SANA that my project started in 2012 with the support of three projects in Jaramana city and the towns of Huraira, while the number of funds of the program so far is 19 distributed in the villages and towns of Achrafieh Sahnaya, Maaloula, Harlejla and Harfa. And Arneh and Rakhla and Khirbet al-Suda, the disbelievers and the frenzy and the Sahal and the veteran and Marah and Maronah and Bloudan and kindergarten.
Kanaan pointed out that the program focuses primarily on agricultural projects such as the expansion of the cultivation of the rose flower in Almarah and beekeeping in Maaloula and the cultivation of oyster mushrooms in Achrafieh Sahnaya and the raising of local goats in Amra, in addition to the production of dairy and cheese and land reclamation projects and the region and spraying pesticides and seedlings and growing cherries and apples.
The director of local development pointed out that the loan to the beneficiary amounted to 200 thousand pounds interest free and there is a study to raise its value during the next year, noting that the program provides loans to help university students in the province worth 50,000 pounds each year, noting that the number of students benefited so far 700 students.
Kanaan pointed out that a development map has been prepared at the level of the smallest village in the governorate, showing the needs of each village and the development projects that can be established therein, which constitute an added value for the people.
It is worth mentioning that a project program is implemented in partnership between the Damascus countryside and the Syrian Development Secretariat.
