Baghdad-Sana
The Operations Command in the Iraqi capital Baghdad warned against the involvement of school students in the yards of demonstrations in some Iraqi provinces since several days to demand better living conditions and services.
The leadership in a statement today called on faculty and parents not to put students in the yards to demonstrate their safety and not to be exploited by engineers trying to abuse the peaceful demonstration and the security forces charged with the protection of peaceful demonstrators.
A large number of Iraqi school and university students participated in the demonstrations today in Baghdad and eight Iraqi provinces as part of the ongoing popular protests calling for improvement of living conditions and services, addressing poverty and unemployment crises, and amending the constitution.
In the meantime, six members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the governor of Najaf announced their resignation because of the failure of the Iraqi government to respond to the demands of the protesters.
