(CNN Spanish) - The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) established a new purchase limit of $ 200 per month.

In a statement issued tonight, the BCRA said that "given the current degree of uncertainty, the Board of the BCRA decided to take a series of measures this Sunday that seek to preserve the reserves of the Central Bank."

The institution "establishes a new limit of US $ 200 per month for the purchase of dollars for individuals with a bank account and US $ 100 for the amount of dollars that can be purchased in cash."

According to the BCRA, these limits are not cumulative. The announced measures are transitory, until December 2019. Until today there was a limit of $ 10,000 per month for the purchase for individuals. This is the first measure taken in Argentina after the election result is known.
