Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang reiterated his country's opposition to all forms of terrorism, stressing the need to further strengthen international cooperation to combat it.
"We are closely following the development of the situation and terrorism is still the enemy of all countries," Geng told a news conference today, commenting on US President Donald Trump's announcement yesterday of the killing of Islamic State terrorist leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Terrorism is also actively involved in efforts to combat it worldwide.
"All countries should strengthen cooperation in the joint fight against terrorism and it is necessary to combat its causes and manifestations," the spokesman said.
Trump announced at a press conference at the White House yesterday that the terrorist Baghdadi and a number of his supporters were killed during a special operation in the Syrian province of Idlib.
