DAMASCUS, (SANA) - Successive failures in the completion of Britain's withdrawal from the European Union

Damascus-Sana

Consecutive failures to complete the process of Britain's withdrawal from the European Union (Brexit) with or without agreement led the European bloc to postpone the scheduled date of this process only three days before its resolution, while the worsening of internal differences in Britain or in the corridors of the Union in this regard without any indication To the possibility of reaching a solution that satisfies all parties.

The question of completing Brexit remains unresolved just three days before London's planned pullout from the European Union on October 31, when British politicians have not even come close to reaching a consensus on how, when or how to move. Today, London's request to postpone the deadline until January 31 in the so-called "flexible extension" that allows Britain to leave before the said date if its parliament agrees.

The EU ambassadors' agreement on postponement included a commitment that the Brexit withdrawal agreement could not be renegotiated in the future and that December 1 and January 1 would be possible dates for Brexit if the agreement is completed and London would in the meantime have to appoint a senior official to serve as EU commissioner. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will continue his push for early elections after his opponents forced him to ask for an extension of the deadline despite his pledge he would never do so.

Today's attention is turning to the British parliament, which will vote on early legislative elections on December 12 proposed by Johnson to get out of his predicament. Early elections and thus to support part of the opposition, which rejects his agreement on the withdrawal of the European bloc and insists that it will not support the option of elections until Johnson gives up his threat to leave the EU without any agreement at all.

More than three years after the British voted 52 to 48 percent in favor of a withdrawal from the European Union in a referendum in 2016, the British community is still deeply divided over the completion of this step as the divorce process continues between the parties without any looming end.
