The elements of the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Hama today seized a huge warehouse containing expired foodstuffs and prepared to be re-packaged after manipulation of its validity date in violation of health laws and regulations.

The warehouse, which was seized near the Arab Women's School, contains more than 20 tons of olive oil, various vegetable oils, jams and other foodstuffs, which have expired for several years, Ziad Koussa, director of internal trade and consumer protection in Hama, told SANA.

He said that a large quantity of plastic containers of various sizes were found in the offending warehouse, ready to be packed with the mentioned foodstuffs with data sheets and paper cards to be used in forging certificates of origin for these products.

The Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection confirmed that the necessary control has been organized and the warehouse owner is brought to justice.
