Syria participates in the World Radiocommunication Conference in Egypt

The World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 opened today in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt with the participation of delegations from 140 countries including Syria and in the presence of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Minister of Communications and Technology, Iyad Al-Khatib, who is heading the Syrian delegation, pointed to the importance of participating in the conference to serve the reality of telecommunications and sustainable development in Syria. .

Al-Khatib considered that Syria's participation in the conference after years of interruption as a result of the terrorist war launched on it will contribute to deliver the Syrian voice through international forums and send a message to the world that Syria has returned strongly after its victory over terrorism and aggression with the will and strength of its people and army.

The conference is organized every four years by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This is the first time that it has been held outside the WTO headquarters in Geneva in 20 years.

More than 3,500 telecom experts from 140 countries, more than 50 ministers and deputy ministers from around the world will participate in the conference, in addition to more than 50 companies and international organizations working in the field of telecommunications around the world.

The conference will discuss at least 1000 spectrum management working papers on regulatory regulation for the telecommunications technology industry worldwide.

Participants will also set the transition controls for 5G cellular technology services, which are a rich and important resource for the growth of the global economy, and review the provisions of the Radio Regulations through the relevant international treaty.
