The Syrian government-supported delegation arrived in Geneva to participate in the meetings of the Constitutional Discussion Committee.
The committee's meetings will start next Wednesday with the participation of the 150 members. Discussions will begin on Friday, after which there will be a small committee of 45 members, 15 supported by the Syrian government, 15 for other parties and 15 from the civil society.
The Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Syria, Geir Pederson, said earlier today that the work of the Commission is based on fundamental principles that include respect for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syria in accordance with the UN Charter and UN Security Council resolutions.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres announced on the twenty-third of last month to reach an agreement on the formation of a constitutional discussion committee, praising the efforts of the Syrian government in this regard.
