Damascus, (SANA) - The budget and accounts committee of the People's Assembly discussed the investment budget of the Ministry of Culture and the Syrian authorities

The Committee on Budget and Accounts in the People's Assembly discussed the investment budget of the Ministry of Culture and its affiliates for the year 2020, estimated at 3 billion and 405 million Syrian pounds.

He called on the members of the committee to archive and document the assets of museums by taking advantage of modern technologies and upgrading the cultural and knowledge level by activating the cultural centers and extending the ministry's plans related to literacy to include the liberated areas, pointing out the importance of reopening the Syrian cultural centers abroad.

Members stressed the importance of paying close attention to Syrian antiquities, especially after they were looted and destroyed by terrorist gangs, the American occupation forces and the Turkish regime.

In response to the members' interventions, the Minister of Culture Mohammad Al-Ahmad said that the most important projects of the Central Administration for the next year are the rehabilitation of the infrastructure of Al-Assad Library, Tartous Theater and cinema halls in Lattakia. The Museum of Modern Art, pointing to the need to rebuild and restore the archaeological sites that have been sabotaged and destroyed by terrorism in accordance with the specifications that preserve its presence in memory and archaeological map.

The meeting was attended by a number of central directors at the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums.
