The US House of Representatives overwhelmingly adopted a resolution calling on the White House to impose sanctions on the Turkish regime for its aggression on Syrian territory.
The decision, according to Reuters, was backed by 403 lawmakers and 16 against, demanding US President Donald Trump impose sanctions and restrictions on officials of the Turkish regime.
Democratic lawmakers initiated the resolution, which was also backed by a majority of Republicans, in an attempt to force the Turkish regime to halt its military aggression on Syrian territory.
US lawmakers also adopted a resolution calling on states to recognize the 1915 crimes committed by the Ottomans against Armenians as genocide.
"It's never too late to acknowledge the genocide, and that's perfectly appropriate today," said Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, who proposed the resolution.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish regime insists on denying the crimes committed during the era of the Ottoman occupation against the Armenians between 1915 and 1917 and rejects the description of "genocide."
