(CNN) - In only a four-state space, the weather presents extreme conditions: either it is burning or the cold is inclement. Literally.
While Californians fight forest fires that affect their state, 14 million people in the United States were under winter weather alerts this Tuesday.

And that winter is not even close yet.
This is what you can expect throughout the country this week.
Denver could receive 30.4 centimeters of snow
For the second time this month, the capital of Colorado will be affected.
These were the winter weather alerts issued to the United States on Tuesday.
The storm could leave between 15 and 30.4 centimeters of snow, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver.
The city area was covered by almost 23 centimeters of snow on Saturday afternoon and almost 15 centimeters accumulated at the airport, the NWS said. With the snowfall, Denver registered 27 centimeters this month alone, a figure that makes it the fourteenth October with more snow than there is record.

But it does not end there: on Tuesday night more snow is expected, although the intensity will gradually decrease from northwest to southeast during the course of the morning, according to what meteorologists point out.
Temperatures will fall to a single digit and the maximum expected for Wednesday will only exceed 10 degrees, the weather service said.
The Central Plains will also live the “party” of the winter storm
Consecutive storm systems will move from the Rocky Mountains and the Plains to the Great Lakes, the NWS explained.
"Some tried something winter last night, but we can all join tonight's party until Thursday," the Kansas City weather service office tweeted Tuesday.
Snow and freezing drizzle will cover the area from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning.
The cold temperatures that are forecast for this Wednesday.
"Halloween night seems to be free of rain, but it will be uncomfortably cold," meteorologists said.
In the Midwest you can "get scared" with the snow
The first snowfall of the season is expected in parts of the US Midwest. Over the next few days, he maintained the National Meteorological Service.
That means that Iowa, southern Minnesota, northern Missouri, northern Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan could have a winter Halloween.
These are the low temperatures forecast for Thursday in several areas of the United States.
Chicago, the city of winds, could also be covered with snow for Halloween night.
“On six occasions during the history of Chicago, snow has fallen on Halloween, and the only date it could be measured was 2014,” explained the NWS in the city.
If Chicago receives a considerable amount of snow this Halloween, it would arrive 17 days earlier than normal.
