The theme of the day: Does Trump fall over the Vindman statement?

In the planned impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, the US Democrats want to prove to the head of state that he abused his office for personal gain.

Real doubts remain: Trump wanted to bring Ukraine by freezing hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to investigate the son of his Democratic rival Joe Biden. If it needed a definition of abuse, it could look like that.

A central figure has now been questioned in Washington in parliament - and has further burdened Trump: Alexander Vindman, Ukraine adviser in the White House. He is an ear witness to the incriminating telephone conversation of Trump with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Selenskyj. Here you can read more about the man who testifies against Trump.

Vindman - immigrant child, decorated war veteran and top consultant - must now defend himself against some anti-Semitic attacks from the ranks of Republicans and tricks of Trump. US correspondent Roland Nelles explains why the impeachment dispute is getting really dirty now.
