In clashes between opponents and supporters of Bolivian President Evo Morales, two people have died in the city of Montero. This was announced by the government of the eastern state of Santa Cruz on Twitter.
According to a report by the newspaper El Deber, the victims are two men. They were therefore brought with gunshot wounds in hospitals and died there.

At least seven other people were seriously injured in the riots in Montero, the report said. The Santa Cruz government blamed the Morales cabinet for the violent clashes in its statement.
The acting since 2006 president had won, according to the electoral authorities on October 20 with 47.08 percent of the vote against his challenger Carlos Mesa (36.51 percent). The opposition accuses the government of electoral fraud, Mesa has not yet recognized the outcome. (Read more about the backgrounds here.)
In countrywide protests, more than 30 people have been injured since election day.
