AMLO: Juan José Verde, responsible for operations in Culiacán

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, revealed who authorized the failed operation to arrest Ovidio Guzmán, son of 'El Chapo Guzmán'. The secretary of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval, told the press that a specialized unit of the Army made the decision to start the operation without first consulting the Security Cabinet. This is the Drug Trafficking Information Analysis Group, a unit that is under the command of Colonel Juan José Verde and whom the Government designates as responsible for the events that occurred in Cualiacán, Sinaloa. The president denied the existence of a fracture inside the Army.
