(CNN Spanish) - Seven miners are rescued in Nicaragua after being trapped 5 hours in a gold mine.
The miners, who work with artisanal methods, were trapped after a heavy downpour caused a collapse in an 800-meter deep tunnel located in Santo Domingo, department of Chontales, according to Channel 6, official medium of the Nicaraguan State.
César Augusto Palacios, artisanal miner from Santo Domingo, told CNN via telephone that more than 100 co-workers, with shovels and manual spikes, dug a hole to rescue the trapped, because of the rainy conditions and soil saturation, no They were able to use heavy machines for rescue.
