WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon has decided to expand the US military presence in the Indian and Pacific Oceans and move additional troops to the region, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters during a meeting with Australian Defense Minister Linda Reynolds, Sputnik said: `` Our national defense strategy confirms that our main concern is the Pacific and Indian regions.
“Washington should increase the number of partners and strengthen alliances in the region,” he said.
Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian announced at a press conference last night that his country would not turn a blind eye to US unilateral practices in East Asia and the Pacific that would harm the security of the region as a whole.
