The Dresden City Council has proclaimed the "Nazinotstand" in the Saxon capital. In the majority decision, the city councils argued that "anti-democratic, anti-pluralist, misanthropic and right-wing extremist attitudes and actions, including violence in Dresden, are increasingly becoming apparent."
39 city councils voted in favor of the motion. They are representatives of the Greens, the Left, the SPD, the FDP and non-attached city councilors. There were 29 votes against.
"This city has a problem with Nazis," said Max Aschenbach of the satirical party "The Party" in his speech, on whose initiative the "Nazinotstand" goes back. Aschenbach referred among other things to the Pegida movement and racist attacks. Previously, several media had reported.
According to the resolution, the city should in future strengthen the democratic culture of everyday life and better protect minorities and victims of right-wing violence.
