The United Nations is scheduled to vote next week on a draft resolution proposed by Russia on the transfer of the work of the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly charged with disarmament from the United States to another country, Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations Office in Geneva Andrei Belosov said.
"The proposed places for New York as an alternative to this institution are Vienna and Geneva," Belošov was quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency as saying.
A United Nations source announced on the 18th of last month that Russia officially presented to the First Committee of the General Assembly of the United Nations draft procedural resolution to move the work of the Committee from New York to Vienna or Geneva, against the backdrop of the visa crisis with diplomats with Washington.
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recently announced that Russia would appear to be forced to put the issue of the United Nations headquarters for discussion, against the backdrop of the United States prevented a number of Russian diplomats from entering its territory to attend the work of the United Nations General Assembly.
