DAMASCUS, (SANA) - A workshop was held at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to study the mechanisms for the promotion of handicrafts industries

A workshop was held at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to study the mechanisms for the promotion of handicrafts industries.

During the workshop, chaired by Prime Minister Eng. Emad Khamis, the ministries of industry, local administration, environment and finance and the General Union of Craftsmen were asked to study possible facilities for granting loans and exemptions and networking with the ministries of higher education and education to be the priority of loans for new graduates from industrial and vocational institutes and schools.

In addition, the Ministry of Tourism was commissioned to prepare a study for the creation of a city for heritage industries and professions in Damascus, Aleppo and the rest of the governorates.

The workshop formed a team to study the registration of workers and trades workers in the Union of craftsmen and provide the necessary incentives.It was also decided to prepare a draft law to exempt craftsmen in the affected areas from the accumulated fees and ask the Ministry of Local Administration to study the facilities to be provided to the goldsmiths association in Aleppo and Damascus to set up a project `` City of Gold ''.

It was approved to study the establishment of a craft industry complex in Aleppo city, address the situation of electricity and infrastructure in the craft areas in Hama and Aleppo, and study the mechanisms of renewing the quarries licenses in Hassia, accelerating the completion of craft exchanges in the industrial area in Sweida and providing the requirements for the return of craftsmen to their work places in the eastern governorates.

The workshop was attended by the concerned ministries, the president and members of the executive office of the General Union of Craftsmen and the presidents of unions in the governorates.

In a statement to reporters after the workshop between the President of the Union of Artisans Naji Al-Huda that during the workshop discussed ways to develop the reality of the Union and its contribution in providing the local economy with competencies, expertise and handicraft products and address the obstacles encountered by craftsmen in various governorates, pointing to the need to preserve the traditional craft industries and re-cast through Integrated national strategy.
