Republican presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard confirmed that President Donald Trump is looting Syrian oil through the use of US military forces, stressing that these oil resources belong to the Syrian people.
In an interview with Fox News today, Gabard referred to Trump's contradictory remarks about withdrawing US troops from Syria, describing it as “unfortunate.” “Unfortunately, Trump is changing his approach. Syria is coming home and now he says he wants to keep it not for the fight against ISIS but for oil fields that do not belong to the United States. These oil resources belong to the Syrian people. ”
Gabard stressed that this action represents new evidence of the “modern-style” takeover that has been taking place in Syria since 2011 and deprives the Syrian people of the basic source of resources and energy they need for their daily lives as well as the reconstruction of their country.
Washington is trying to complete its colonial role in Syria and the region, both politically and militarily, through its forces, which are carrying out acts of robbery and looting of Syrian oil. This was confirmed by the Russian Defense Ministry recently, where it published pictures showing tank convoys transporting oil outside Syria under the guard of the US military.
The spokesman of the ministry Major General Igor Konashenkov stressed that all the underground wealth in the Syrian territory belongs to the Syrian Arab Republic and not to the terrorists: ISIS: nor the "American protectors."
Gabard called for an end to the war on Syria and said, "I strongly believe that ... It should never have started and it is necessary to end it now."
The United States has for many years supported armed groups in Syria linked to terrorist organizations such as ISIS and al-Qaeda.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said yesterday that Washington is smuggling oil from the wells of northeastern Syria. "The Americans have bypassed the sanctions they imposed themselves and they are smuggling oil from Syria with more than 30 million dollars a month," she said.
"It seems they will not leave that area in the near future," she said, stressing that US forces' practices regarding oil fields in northeastern Syria were illegal.
