The quantities of citrus marketed in Lattakia province since the beginning of the season until now about 33045 tons distributed over 20,565 tons of cardamom markets in Lattakia, Ras Al Ain and Alshababh and about 12480 tons of sorting and packaging centers for internal and external markets, according to data of the Directorate of Agriculture.
He pointed out that the price of a kilogram of American acid 210 pounds against 115 pounds last year and mandarin 75 pounds versus 65 pounds and satzuma 115 pounds against 75 pounds and Abu Sorra Egyptian 100 pounds against 85 pounds, stressing that the degree of maturity and quality of fruit affect the determination of the price for each variety and that the Directorate Agriculture follows daily prices in wholesale markets.
Ghassan Khair, head of the Hale Market Committee in Lattakia, pointed out that the daily marketing rates of citrus fruits range from 300 to 350 tons, indicating at the same time the existence of a wholesale price margin which depends mainly on the quality and quality of the fruit.
