The activities of the National Environment Day in Daraa included environmental, tourism, agricultural exhibitions, artistic paragraphs and honoring 85 cleaners at the Panorama Garden in Daraa.
Safa Mohammed, Director of the Environment, explained in a speech that protecting the environment requires intensifying efforts to preserve it, spreading environmental awareness among members of society and consolidating the concepts of voluntary work and environmental citizenship.
Mohammed pointed out that an environmental officer was created to support the work of environmental inspectors, noting that environmental protection projects in Daraa were damaged by terrorism, facilities were damaged and logging was carried out for the purpose of logging and trading of the weak souls, which has negative repercussions on the environment.
In a statement to SANA reporter, the head of the Environmental Information and Awareness Department at the Environment Directorate, Raefa Aba Zeid, said that in celebration of the National Environment Day, the Directorate, in cooperation with all events, is implementing environmental, agricultural and tourism exhibitions and launching artistic activities that aim at promoting the importance of the environment and the need to preserve it.
Eng. Jameel Al-Abdullah, head of the Forestry Department at the Directorate of Agriculture, explained that the Directorate is participating in an exhibition of forest plantations, aromatic and medicinal plants and a documentary film about the danger of fires and the need to limit their spread and preserve forests from cutting and encroachments on their harmful impact on the environment.
Director of Tourism Yasser Al-Saadi said that the Directorate is participating in the presentation of pictures of the monuments and tourist places and food industries without preservatives and the goal of delivering a message of the importance of preserving the environment and sustainability of resources for future generations.
Akram Al-Asaad said that we are participating in an exhibition of environmental harmony by making models and materials useful for our daily life of cork, while Ola Dergham saw participation in another exhibition that the purpose is to give the world an idea about our environment and the importance of preserving it through recycling the damaged things to get something aesthetic we benefit in daily life .
One of the honored cleaners Hossam Ali stressed that his message to all the importance of launching cleanliness campaigns throughout the year and not limited to one day a year and the need to pay attention to the environment and cleanliness also cares at home to reach a healthy and clean society.
