Syria and Kazakhstan discuss developing relations in various fields

DAMASCUS, (SANA) - Deputy Foreign Minister and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad on Monday received Khairat Lama Sharif, Ambassador at Large for the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, they discussed ways of developing bilateral relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and Kazakhstan in the cultural, economic, scientific and consular fields.

Dr. Miqdad noted the historical relations between the two peoples, expressing the Syrian government's readiness to provide all necessary facilities to upgrade the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Mekdad also praised the important role played by the Republic of Kazakhstan in hosting the Astana track meetings on Syria and the efforts exerted for its success.

For his part, Ambassador Sharif pointed out that his visit comes within the framework of his country's keenness to develop its relations with Syria with which it has deep historical relations.

During the meeting, they also discussed arrangements for reopening Al-Farabi Cultural Center in Damascus and activating its activities in the next stage.

The meeting was attended by Ayman Raad, Director of Asia Department, Osama Ali, Director of the Deputy Minister's Office, Zina Ali from the Deputy Minister's Office, and the guest side Saeb Nahas, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Syria, and Yergan Kalikinov, Charge d'Affaires of the Kazakh Embassy in Beirut and the accompanying delegation.
