Four artesian wells damaged by terrorism were inaugurated today in Mehin town of Homs countryside, after the rehabilitation of some 2,500 people and irrigating 180 hectares by the Directorate of Water Resources and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

In a statement to SANA correspondent, the director of water resources in Homs, Ismail Ismail, pointed out that the four wells are part of the rehabilitation project of humiliating wells, which comes within the framework of revitalizing the area and raising the efficiency of irrigation there and the standard of living of farmers coinciding with their return to it.

He pointed out that the wells were almost destroyed and completely stopped by terrorism, where they have been rehabilitated in order to revive the irrigated areas and the return of agricultural production and increase and the delivery of irrigation water to holdings within the scope of the project while achieving justice in the distribution and rationalization of water use and reduce waste.

Eng. Tarif Mansour, assistant director of Homs agriculture, pointed out that the wells that were inaugurated today feed large areas of land planted with fruit trees, stressing that with the return of the people of the town will improve the agricultural situation where work is being done to rehabilitate the extension unit and distribute the planter to the returning farmers.

Eng. Osama Shahoud, Chairman of Muhain Town Council, said that about 650 families have returned to Muhain and services in Tahsin, where the rehabilitation of the municipality building, a school and the four wells that have been inaugurated have been completed, which is reflected positively on the residents.

In the same context, the inauguration of Abdelkader Al-Jazairi school in the town, which was affected by terrorism after its rehabilitation and the opening of a mobile clinic to serve the returning families throughout the week.

Dr. Hassan al-Jundi, director of Homs health, told SANA that the town of Muhain previously included comprehensive clinics that include all services but is currently out of service as a result of terrorist attacks and with the return of the residents, the rehabilitation of comprehensive clinics has started and pending completion. In a statement to reporters, Talal Al-Barazi, Governor of Homs, pointed out that the inauguration of the wells will contribute to the return of 180 hectares of agricultural work and provide employment opportunities for farmers, pointing to a plan to rehabilitate the comprehensive clinics building and three schools to accommodate all returning students. .
