Next Wednesday, the US Democrats want to start in the House of Representatives: Then in the course of the impeachment investigation against Donald Trump, inter alia, the managing US Ambassador in Kiev, William Taylor, will be heard publicly as a witness. This was announced by Adam Schiff, who leads the investigation of the opposition party, on Twitter. On Friday, the former US Ambassador to the Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, will speak. There will be more public hearings, Schiff announced.
Next week, the House Intelligence Committee will hold its first open hearings as part of the impeachment inquiry.
On Wednesday, November 13, 2019, we want to hear from William Taylor and George Kent.
On Friday, November 15, 2019, we want to hear from Marie Yovanovitch.
More to come.
Taylor and Yovanovitch have already had questions and answers in closed hearings. Yovanovitch's statement on Monday featured a transcript. Prestigious career diplomat Taylor had pressurized Trump with his statement two weeks ago in the Ukraine affair. According to him, the US President deliberately withheld congressional military aid to Ukraine.
The Democrats accuse Trump of abusing his position in order to force the Ukrainian government to interfere in the US election campaign in his favor. They are conducting investigations. So far, all hearings took place behind closed doors. The Democrats hold the majority in the House of Representatives and could thus open an impeachment process. For a dismissal Trumps but would have to agree to the Republican-controlled Senate - which seems highly unlikely so far.
The prospect of a possible impeachment trial against Trump divides the United States deeply. The polls and the opponents of so-called impeachment are looking about the same way - even though the approval in society has risen since the start of Democratic investigations at the end of September.

Trump continued to come under pressure on Tuesday, with US Ambassador to the EU, Gordon Sondland, also saying he had the impression that US military aid to Ukraine was conditional. This is clear from a statement that complements Sondland's original statement in the US House of Representatives.
