Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the British authorities' goal of refusing to give Russian journalists permission to attend a media freedom conference in London is to blur global standards for media freedom and biased regulation of information resources.
"Of great concern is the attempt to circumvent internationally recognized multilateral platforms and impose vague non-exhaustive initiatives on the international community," Sputnik quoted Lavrov as saying at the Media Freedom and Journalists' Conference in Russia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The event in London under the big name is the Media Freedom Conference, in which the British authorities and organizers simply did not allow Russian representatives to journalists and diplomats alike.
The British authorities had earlier refused to accredit Russian journalists RT and Sputnik to attend an international conference devoted to media freedom held in London last July under the pretext of allegations of false information.
