(CNN) - A man stabbed several tourists on Wednesday in the Jordanian city of Jerash, according to a statement issued by the spokesman for the public security direction in Jordan.
Among the injured people is also a tour guide and a local police officer who tried to arrest the attacker.
The attacker was arrested and the case is being investigated. All the injured have been taken to the hospital and receive medical treatment, the official said.

The spokesman could not immediately provide more details about the nationalities of tourists.
Jerash is the second most visited site in Jordan after Petra and is popular with foreign visitors.
