Syria participates in the World Robot Olympics in Hungary

DAMASCUS, (SANA) - Syria will participate in the World Robot Olympiad finals in Gyor, Hungary

Syria will participate in the World Robot Olympiad, which will be held in the Hungarian city of Gyor under the title “Smart Cities” during the period between 7 and 10 of this month with the participation of 423 teams from 73 countries.

Nabug Yassin, director of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad at the Excellence and Creativity Commission, told SANA today that three Syrian teams are participating in the finals, which is the largest and most prominent annual event in the world in the field of “Robotics”, the team “EROR 403” for the regular middle class for ages 13. Up to 15 years, the Rubex team for the upper regular category for ages 16 to 19 years and the Squadros team for the upper open category for ages 16 to 19 years.

Yassin explained that these teams won the first ranks among the categories in the national championship of the World Robot Olympics, which was held in the Fayha Sports Hall in Damascus last August with the participation of more than 80 teams of robotic clubs in public and private universities, educational institutions, NGOs and specialized training centers.

Thirty thousand teams competed within their countries in the framework of this tournament to qualify 423 teams to the World Championship in Hungary, which aims to help university students, schools and those interested in science and technology to demonstrate their energies and abilities in the design and programming of robots compete with each other and provide a suitable environment for the exchange of experiences in the field of robot science This contributes to the dissemination of the culture of these sciences and help in the development and promotion of basic scientific educational skills.

The Syrian teams have achieved good results in their participation in the past years, where they ranked second and third in the World Robot Olympiad in India in 2016, and third place in the World Robot Olympiad in Costa Rica in 2017 and in Thailand in 2018 in third place in the open middle class.
