(CNN Spanish) - The National Assembly of Venezuela on Tuesday appointed a preliminary commission that will be responsible for appointing the Electoral Nominations Committee to later elect the new rectors of the National Electoral Council.

Of the nine deputies that make up this group six are from the bench of the president of parliament, Juan Guaidó and three belong to the so-called Bloque de la Patria, formed by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela and other parties also aligned with the questioned president Nicolás Maduro.

This would be the first mixed commission appointed after the return to the legislature of the Madurista deputies, after two years of absence.

In addition, the ruling party asked the National Constituent Assembly, questioned nationally and internationally, to activate the mechanisms for the designation of the authorities of the electoral power. With that same purpose, the establishment of a liaison commission between the National Assembly and the Constituent, they affirm, was urged to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Magna Carta during the designation process. These assemblies do not know each other.

But given the apparent approach on this issue, the Chavista deputies made it clear that for them the only elections planned for 2020 are parliamentary, while Juan Guaidó ignores the presidential elections of May 20, 2018 and demands elections.
