Acting Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Abu Dhabi, Khaldoun Zaafaranji, stressed the need to activate cooperation and coordination with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization ( UNIDO ).
Speaking at the 18th UNIDO conference in Abu Dhabi, Zafaranji explained the role of the organization in assisting the development of the manufacturing sector in Syria, which is undergoing a comprehensive review of the restructuring of public sector facilities and enabling the private sector to contribute to the process of industrial development and modernization through Catalytic policies and supporting institutions.
The conference concluded with the issuance of the Abu Dhabi Declaration, which in its 21st paragraph strongly urged states to refrain from enacting and implementing any unilateral economic, financial or trade measures that are contrary to international law and the UN Charter and hinder economic and social development, especially in developing countries.
