"This is the first case of this kind, which has become known to me since my official membership," said intelligence chief Thomas Haldenwang the SPIEGEL. "The person was immediately suspended after this case became known." The incident is also controversial because the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution is currently building a new central office to investigate "right-wing extremist activities in the public service". "One could say that these are isolated cases," said Haldenwang in October in an interview with the SPIEGEL. "But one can also say, and I think that's too many isolated cases for me to not look at them systematically."
