Tashkent-Sana

The head of Russia's Federal Security Service, Alexander Portnikov, has warned of the danger of families of ISIS terrorists returning from the Middle East to Russia and carrying out attacks on its territory.

"We now have information on the presence or departure of some 2,000 women and children from Russian-born terrorist families in the Middle East," Portnikov was quoted as saying during a meeting of leaders of the CIS member states' security services in Tashkent. "One of the channels through which relatives of terrorists infiltrate areas of armed tension into Russia are humanitarian corridors."

He pointed out that these returnees often adopted extremist ideas and sought by the leaders of terrorist gangs to use them as suicide bombers and promoters of terrorist propaganda and recruitment, pointing out that intelligence in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States is monitoring an escalation in the terrorist practices of the branches of the organization `` IS '' in Afghanistan to make it a springboard for expansion into the territory of the CIS countries.

Bortnikov said that the Russian federal security in cooperation with the intelligence services in Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan dismantled 13 international terrorist cells and arrested 138 wanted this year.

The Russian investigation committee in Moscow announced yesterday the arrest of a person with Kyrgyz nationality who was planning to carry out a terrorist attack in the Russian capital Moscow.

The security services in various cities and regions of Russia are fighting a war against terrorist and extremist groups linked to ISIS and other terrorist organizations that are trying to destabilize and recruit people to the ranks of terrorist organizations outside the country.
