Washington-SANA

The US Justice Department revealed that the Saudi regime has recruited people working for Twitter to spy on opponents of the regime who criticized him on the social networking platform.

A federal court in San Francisco has charged two former Twitter employees and another man - two Saudis and an American - with spying on social media users who criticized the Bani Saud regime.
The US Justice Department said according to Agence France-Presse that the three people worked together for the Saudi regime in order to reveal the identities of opposition account holders on Twitter.

According to the indictment, the three men were following the directives of an unidentified Saudi regime official working for a person whom investigators called "a member of the royal family 1".

Attorney General David Anderson said the criminal complaint accuses Saudi agents of tampering with Twitter's internal regulations in order to obtain personal information about Saudi dissidents and thousands of Twitter users.

According to several human rights organizations, the Saudi regime has a black record in the field of human rights.

Human Rights Watch confirmed earlier that the Saudi regime used available commercial surveillance techniques to hack electronic accounts to opponents of its policies.
