Moscow-Sana
The Russian Foreign Ministry reiterated that there are serious shortcomings in the activities of the fact-finding mission on the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria, pointing out that this violates the high standards of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
"The reports of the mission are based on evidence obtained remotely from groups opposed to the Syrian government, while the information provided by the official authorities of Syria is ignored," TASS news agency quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement today. "There are questions about the staff of the fact-finding mission, where the representatives of Western countries and their allies dominate."
"The report of experts who question the work of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons during the preparation of a report on the alleged chemical attack in the city of Douma should make the leadership of the organization consider the real reasons for its division," the statement said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry statement added that “in view of this kind of references, the Expert Report” is issued not only by States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention but also from reputable international experts, it is time to lead the OPCW Technical Secretariat to draw appropriate conclusions. Concerning the real causes of the current situation of the crisis within the organization, which turned out to be literally divided due to the strong politicization of the Syrian chemical "dossier" and the decisions imposed in this regard by a group of Western countries, not only outside the framework of the Iron Weapons Convention. But also to interfere with the mandate of the Security Council. ”
In the statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry agreed with the conclusions reached by the authors of the expert report on the non-exhaustion of the evidence presented in the report of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons on an alleged chemical attack in Douma. At the next session of the member states of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, to be held in The Hague on 25 and 29 November.
The Permanent Representative of Syria to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Bassam Sabbagh stressed during a press conference organized by the Russian mission in The Hague last March that the final report of the fact-finding mission on the alleged use of chemical weapons in Douma on April 7, 2018 included a serious misrepresentation of facts on the ground and many Inconsistencies and inconsistencies.
It is noteworthy that the United States deliberately through its tools of terrorist organizations and elements of the so-called 'White Helmets' to represent fabricated plays of alleged chemical weapons attacks accused by the Syrian government in an attempt to save terrorists from their inevitable end in the face of the Syrian Arab Army and justify the external aggression against Syria.
