Prosecutor confirms arrest of fire suspect at Metro station La Granja

(CNN Spanish) - The Chilean Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office confirmed the arrest of an individual suspected of participating in fires registered at a Santiago Metro station on October 18.

Through its Twitter account, the prosecution indicated that it is a 33-year-old man, who is said to be responsible for the incident at the La Granja station, on Metro Line 4A, reported Thursday.

The Prosecutor's Office explained that the subject was identified by audiovisual records after the analysis of the security cameras of the affected station.

The southern metropolitan prosecutor, Héctor Barros, said the man risks a penalty that goes from 10 years a day to life imprisonment, CNN Chile affiliated station reported.

The fire happened during the protests that have taken place in Chile against the government of President Sebastian Piñera.
