Student sit-ins continue in some areas of Lebanon

A number of Lebanese regions witnessed student sit-ins today to demand better living conditions and reduce university and school fees.

Hundreds of university and school students staged a sit-in in front of Beirut's harbor on Sunday, while other demonstrators cut off at the UNESCO roundabout, shouting slogans calling for better education, lower university and school fees and support for popular movement amid tight security.

A large number of university students and various schools in northern Lebanon gathered in front of the Ogero communications building in the town of Amioun and forced the staff to go out and stop working as protesters held a sit-in in front of the Banque du Liban in Sidon amid the deployment of Lebanese army personnel.

In Jbeil, a number of school students gathered holding Lebanese flags and declared their intention to sit in front of a number of departments and public facilities. .

In West Bekaa and Jounieh, protesters for the third day in a row forced banks and government institutions to close, while students marched in front of a number of banks in Baalbek.

The National News Agency reported earlier that the protesters yesterday to remove the school students from their schools and march in demonstrations and gathering in front of electricity and communications laboratories and institutions, especially financial institutions to close their entrances to prevent the entry of employees to their offices.

Demonstrations and sit-ins have been taking place in several Lebanese areas since the 17th of last month in protest against the deteriorating living and economic conditions.
