With the participation of Syria, the experimental stage of the final competitions of the World Robot Olympiad under the title of Smart Cities, with 423 teams from 73 countries, started today in the Hungarian city of Gyor.
In a statement received by SANA, the Excellence and Innovation Authority said that three Syrian teams participate in the finals, which is the largest and most prominent annual event in the world in the field of robotics, namely, the team 403 on the regular middle class for the ages of 13 to 15 years and Rubex team on the upper regular category. For the ages of 16 to 19 years and the squadros team for the upper open category for ages 16 to 19 years.
The Authority pointed out that these teams won the first ranks among the categories in the national championship of the World Robot Olympics, which was held in the Fayha sports hall in Damascus last August with the participation of more than 80 teams of robotic clubs in public and private universities, educational institutions, NGOs and specialized training centers.
Thirty thousand teams competed within their countries in the framework of this tournament to qualify 423 teams to the World Championship in Hungary, which aims to help university students, schools and those interested in science and technology to demonstrate their energies and abilities in the design and programming of robots and provide a suitable environment for the exchange of experiences in the field of robotics The culture of these sciences and assist in the development and promotion of basic scientific educational skills.
The Syrian teams have achieved good results in their participation in the past years, where they ranked second and third in the World Robot Olympiad in India in 2016, and third place in the World Robot Olympiad in Costa Rica in 2017 and in Thailand in 2018 in third place in the open middle class.
