The theme of the day: transatlantic hatred

Enemy lists, death threats, deadly attacks on a politician and a synagogue: For months spits a right-wing extremist hate wave through Germany. More than 12,700 neo-Nazis are considered violent. Conservation chief Thomas Haldenwang observed the developments with concern: "There is a storm through the scene," he said in the current SPIEGEL.

In recent months, German security agencies have targeted a particularly dangerous group of neo-Nazis: the "Nuclear Weapons Division". Their members are actually mostly active in the US, where they are held responsible for some murders. An American woman, who left the US out of fear, persecuted the neo-Nazis as far as Germany.

There are now clear indications of a German offshoot with about half a dozen people. Interior Minister Horst Seehofer recently stated that the troops are under intense surveillance. The reason: Green MPs Cem Özdemir and Claudia Roth received e-mails with death threats. "You also left Türkensau have now made it to our death list," says the letter to Özdemir. The e-mail ends: "Sincerely, Nuclear Weapons Division Germany". Read more about this here. You can see how the "hate network" came about here.
